David Rorie graduated from Columbia College in Chicago in 1992 with a BA in film production. After free-lancing as a cinematographer for a year, and editing corporate video for Arthur Andersen, he landed a job in the telecine department of The Filmworkers Club (a high-end commercial post house and transfer facility). While there he opened Backlight Productions and concentrated on producing and directing several documentary films. After 10 years of cold Chicago winters, and working as a full-time editor, he decided to seek out the sun. David moved to Phoenix in 2004 and opened Pugi Films.
